Emissions Management: Outstanding Data Generation & Result Calculation

Outstanding Data List Generation

SAI360's Emission Management Module has n in-built engine to prompt for user data entry for each Emission Source based on its Reporting Frequency.

The "Outstanding Data" list is generated based on active Emission Sources and Time Periods for which there is outstanding user Inputs (based on the Emission Source Reporting Frequency). This list is dynamic and represents user inputs that do not yet exist in the system, and data is not ‘saved’ to the database until the Emissions Input Data are entered in by the user.

Emissions Data Generation and Result Calculation

Data Entry: Unit of Measure List Generation

When the user enters Emissions Input data, the system only displays a subset of Unit of Measure(s) for the user to select. This Unit of Measure list is generated by the system based on the Target Unit defined in the Calculation - Formula Inputs for which Unit of Measure Conversion records are present in the system.

e.g. if the Target Unit is defined as "kL" and the system has Unit of Measure Conversion records present for

  • kL -> Gallon
  • kL -> Litre
  • kL -> Gigalitre

The system will display kL, gal, L, GL as units for the user to enter data.

Result Calculation

The key factor involved in calculating Emission Results is the Emission Source as that’s the driver for the data entry. When the user enters in the Emissions Input data, the system:

  • Finds the relevant active formula defined in the Calculation linked to the Emission Source
  • Retrieves values for all variables (i.e. the Material Attributes Emission Factors) and constants defined in the formula by the data entry period and emission source location.

    If no matching records can be found for the current location, the system will crawl up the hierarchy to try and find a matching parent location record.

    If no matching records at all, the system will flag the Emission Input Data and mark that in the "Incomplete Results" list for the ‘Advanced Users’ to investigate and rectify.
