Emissions Administration

It is mandatory to review and complete the Administration sections – Forms under Emissions Administration Workspace Menu before users can start data entry as they define the basis for Emission Calculations.

NOTE:
Only users with security role "Policy Role - Emissions - Advanced" have access to the Administration section of Emissions Management

Quick overview of the Administration sections:

  • Material Inventory:

This is a register of all the Materials (for example Petrol, Diesel, Grid Electricity) which are used to generate outputs, and their attributes - Emissions Factors, Energy Content etc..
The system allows Material attributes to change from location to location, and to change over time while maintaining historical accuracy.

  • Metrics:

This is a register of all the Metrics (Emissions) which need to be reported.

  • Constants:

Constants are static numbers which can be used in Formulas to calculate Emissions.

  • Calculations:

The system features a graphical Formula Editor that allows users to define a set of formulas using mathematical functions referring to user input variables (such as Fuel Usage) and Attributes of the Material(s) used (like the CO2 Emissions Factor). The formulas can be setup to calculate any Metric, such as Scope 1, 2 or 3 Emissions and Energy Usage.

  • Emissions Sources:

Emission Sources are "entities" to which the emissions need to be attributed to. The granularity of these sources can be configured to suit the reporting requirements. For example, an Emissions Source can be a single truck, an entire fleet of trucks, a mine-shaft, or grid energy usage for an entire state’s operations.

  • Time Periods:

Emission Time Periods can be defined to match the required reporting periods and intervals. They can be of type Month, Quarter and Year.

Administration sections that are under the ‘general’ Administration Workspace menu and relate to the Emissions Management Module:

  • Locations:

Locations is a "generic" module usually available under the Administration workspace menu and possibly linked to various other processes offered within SAI360.

For Emissions Management, Location is key for data capture and is also linked to Constants, Emissions Sources and Materials.

NOTE:
In the instance where Location does not already exist, a new geographical hierarchy can be created or a different, existing hierarchy can be linked as "Location" (e.g. Department). However, this will be referred to as "Location" throughout the module.

  • Unit of Measure:

Repository of all Units of Measure used in data capture and emission reports.

  • Unit of Measure Conversion:

Defines conversion factor from 1 unit to another. The Emissions Management Module uses this functionality to allow flexibility in data entry and consistency in reporting.
e.g. Meter to Centimeter -> Conversion Factor: 100

  • External Material Reference:

Stores external Material definitions, such as those defined by government agencies and provided through the DitchCarbon API.

Only applicable to customers who have purchased the DitchCarbon integration to automatically download Emissions Factors.

  • Refresh Emission Factors:

Allows administrative users to refresh the Emissions factors for select fuels, from the DitchCarbon integration.

Only applicable to customers who have purchased the DitchCarbon integration to automatically download Emissions Factors.
